Moth Night - A Cautionary Tale

A report from Vic Adams

On Friday 21st July 06, a Moth Evening was held at my home in the centre of Grimsby town. This was done as an item on the Grimsby L.W.T. groups activities.

Pic 1 shows people arriving and looking at
lorayn moth catchfrom the previous night.

Pic 2 - The sossij roles and keesh and biskits are scoffed.

Pic 3 - Everyone's attention is on the main attraction and the species are
identified by Chris and Alf. Altogether a really good listing of
63 species and a new aspect on nature study to quite a few people.

Later, at about 1.30 a.m. when people started to leave ,consternation ensued when a handbag was noted as missing. The police etc. were contacted and it was generally assumed the a sneakthief had struck whilst we were engrossed and partially blinded by the moth light.

However good news next morning when my neighbour came knocking and asked if I could shed any light on item found in her garden. It was Jane Drinkall’s handbag thoroughly chewed, but all items intact.

Reflections on the events show that leather objects
are not to be left around when foxes abound.

Cheers Vic Adams.
